Project Foreman

FIELD

The project foreman position is responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of activities involved in maintaining and constructing objects, structures and buildings of varying sizes and applications. The project foreman either supervises smaller scope jobs or assists project superintendents in supervising larger scope jobs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan means and methods of construction with general superintendent

  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers with general superintendent

  • Deploy project strategy to personnel and subcontractors; communicate expectations and schedules

  • Direct personnel and subcontractors

  • Instruct personnel in construction methods to improve production, efficiency and safety

  • Assist workers in construction activities

  • Schedule proper tools, equipment and materials

  • Maintain job site organization and cleanliness

  • Ensure project schedule and budget are maintained

  • Anticipate and nullify potential problems; identify and solve problems

  • Communicate change orders to the project manager on a timely basis

  • Communicate RFIs to the project manager needed

  • Coordinate inspections with various jurisdictions

  • Ensure quality workmanship and work performed is in accordance with construction documents

  • Have a working understanding of the Safety and Health Program and the Hazard Program

  • Administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment; enforce compliance

  • Lead through example in areas of safety and compliance; foster a culture that expects participation at all levels

  • Ensure tools, safety equipment and safety kits are maintained and accounted for

  • Complete field reports daily

  • Complete safety meeting minutes and inspection checklist weekly

  • Take project progress photos weekly

  • Code and approve material purchase receipts and packing slips as needed

  • Accurately complete and turn in paperwork to the office on a timely basis

  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, city officials and personnel

  • Lift, carry, push, pull and load heavy and awkward objects

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a journeyman carpenter or equivalent role

  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools and equipment

  • Knowledge of principles and practices in organizational planning, coordination and execution

  • Skills in oral and written communications and in reading and interpreting plans and contract documents

  • Ability to manage resources, lead and direct multiple crews and subcontractors

  • Ability to evaluate job site safety hazards and minimize potential accidents

  • Proficiency with smart phones, computers, and Microsoft Office including Excel and Project

  • Own project superintendent hand tools

  • First aid/CPR certification
