Carpenter

FIELD

The Carpenter position is responsible for maintaining and constructing objects, structures and buildings of varying sizes and applications. Duties include setting forms for foundations; installing floor joists and sub-floors; framing walls; setting roof trusses and rafters; installing roof sheathing, siding, windows and exterior doors; installing wallboard, interior doors, cabinets, millwork, hardware and finish products. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute high quality work

  • Read and understand blueprints, sketches and building plans

  • Conform to local building codes

  • Have knowledge of construction materials and hardware and their applications

  • Use hand, power and air tools and equipment

  • Direct laborers as needed

  • Perform general laborer work when needed

  • Keep work areas in a safe and clean condition

  • Be safety conscious at all times; report unsafe conditions immediately

  • Ensure tools, safety equipment and safety kits are maintained and accounted for

  • Lift, carry, push, pull weights in excess of 100 pounds

  • As directed by Project Superintendent, General Superintendent, Project Manager

  • Accurately complete and turn in paperwork to a Project Foreman or Project Superintendent on a timely basis

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma preferred

  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools and equipment

  • Own carpenter hand tools

  • Initiative, dependable, motivated, productive

  • Skills in oral communications

  • Able to work independently and as a team player
