In their role as manager of the accounting, administrative, and human resources teams, the controller will bring their expert financial and business leadership to R|MILLER Inc. This individual should have high-level managerial and financial accounting skills, the ability to successfully manage teams, and experience working in the construction industry. The controller will be responsible for overseeing office operations as they relate to construction activities and applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTING
  • Responsible for financial, managerial, and general accounting functions
  • Produces financial statements timely and accurately

  • Provides financial measurements, forecasting, and financial tools

  • Prepares budgets

  • Aids in revenue growth and utilizes effective cost management strategies

  • Maintains and reconciles general ledger

  • Establishes and maintains cash controls

  • Projects short-term cash flow needs

  • Develops, trains, implements, and oversees accounting policies, procedures, and practices

  • Ensures legal compliance of accounting policies, procedures and practices

  • Establishes and oversees internal controls and standards to protect company assets

  • Maintains accounting software

  • Ensures insurance coverage meets R|MILLER’s needs

  • Prepares and compile year-end documentation for outsourced tax filings

  • Manages and act as liaison for annual financial review with external CPA firm

  • Supports President in establishing and maintaining banking relationships

HUMAN RESOURCES
  • Assists the COO in a human resources capacity
  • Develops, trains, implements, and oversees human resources policies, procedures, and practices

  • Ensures legal compliance of human resources policies, procedures, and practices

  • Maintains compensation and benefit programs

  • Supports supervisors and management with employee relations issues

  • Onboards new employees

  • Supports the Director of Safety in managing workers’ compensation claims

ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Develops, trains, implements, and oversees administrative support policies, procedures, and practices

  • Manages appearance, supplies, repairs, and maintenance of office

  • Manages the filing, storage, and retention of documents

MANAGEMENT
  • Partner closely with COO to staff and manage accounting, human resources, and administrative personnel
  • Maintain high standard of employee productivity, work execution, and engagement

  • Effectively identify and retain the best people

  • Organize, distribute, and monitor workflow between field, operations, and accounting staff

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • CPA or CPA inactive preferred

  • 5 years minimum experience in the construction industry

  • 5 years minimum experience in a controller/supervisor role

  • Experience with Spectrum software

  • Experience with Procore preferred
